One other thing you might want to add is the easy to use tools Google offers (analytics, webmaster tools, etc..) that help you track visitors and refine content to get the most out of your site. I use them to help clients refine content and meta data.  A link to more information is below.

One more thing.  Although hiring a designer is more expensive then a free template, there is something to be said about a company site that stands out in a sea of cookie cutter templates. You want something that distinguishes you from the competition.
